The Nominations

I took upon myself to pick categories and short list the names.
Big thank you to people who message me – pointed mistakes and give suggestions, some of you provided very good information and all been taken into consideration.
Last year I followed bodybuilding scene closely, but considering that within UK and Ireland we had shows running across record breaking number of organization (to name some NABBA, PCA, Fit X, NFMUK/GBO, GPO, UKBFF&RIBBF/ELITEPRO, NPC/IFBB PRO, BNBF, WNBF/PNBA, ICN, NFBA, NIFMA, NPA, UKDFBA, IBFA ) plus international events and aspect that some of these are tested and untested you must take into consideration that there is no right way to approach this and it took me several hours of research (mainly on social media) as less and less show results being posted anywhere these days – hence creation of this project run in the spare time as a hobby.

Seventh NPC show in Poland took place 23rd – 24th October in Warsaw, were regionals “Polish cup” been held on Saturday and pro qualifier followed by pro show on Sunday. Previous can be found here.

Promotor Robert Piotrkowicz confirmed that it was another record breaking show in number of competitors that took on stage at NPC event in Poland.

Athletes have been judged by panel on international judges from Italy, Norway, Germany and USA.

The show date was set week after Fitparade event in Hungary which allowed many amateur athletes continue to chase their Pro card dream without major logistics since Warsaw is only 857.5 km from Budapest.

That said one of those dream came true for Laura Pyszora.

Women`s Bodybuilding

Laura who represented Poland but lives in UK, placed second, week before in Budapest at WPD this time she entered Women`s Bodybuilding and won Pro Card in open category out of five ladies.

Bodybuilding

In main category bodybuilding we had super heavy weight Mark Joyce fighting for pro card, Crayford weights & fitness regular came third to later overall winner former Elite Pro Volodymir Byruk and Maik Ciesla from Germany.

Saturdays regional overall winner Damian Kryszpin won biggest bodybuilding class of the day heavy weight but Ukrainian Byruk was unbeatable that day.

Classic Physique

In classic we had surprising return of the British classic physique champion Piotr Jablonski from UKBFF days, think it was back in 2017, 2nd in 2018. Piotr came 3rd in class B

Also we had Wesley Grant in tallest class D who came 2nd.

Overall win and Pro Crard was awarder to class C winner Piotr Wojtowicz who later that day competed among pro athelets.

Pro Card in biggest category of the day went to Aneta Szoltysek who in overall went against Class C winner Tara Ivri from Ireland.

Ukbff South Coast bikini champion was 4th in Class D

Fifth NPC Festival organized by Ifbb Pro Robert Piotrkowicz on 28th and 29th of August just outside Warsaw in Marki, Poland.
Event also hosted for the first time* in Poland professional competition in men’s classic physique and bikini fitness called Battle of Champions on Sunday, August 29. 
(Poland ever hosted only one professional show in bodybuilding open it was Kevin Levrone Classic in 2016).
The festival consisted of three shows regional on Saturday, Pro Qualifier and Pro show on Sunday.

Organizer’s went above and beyond to accommodate athletes best they could. They had setting up huge backstage area with plenty space for every one to set up, those who traveled from far had chance to pay fee`s once they arrive for peace of mind in case they would not made it due to travel issues ect.

NPC Pro Qualifier:

BODYBUILDING:

This class was hugely dominated by local athletes given that day before the regional show took place and same bodybuilder’s had the chance to fight for a Pro status.

British fans could watch super heavy Joe Ballinger who just two weeks ago came very close loosing only to Rob Cannon in Alicante (2 pro card show) Npc Europeans.

Joe came third behind winner Jakub Pestka and second place Michal Mikulewicz , Lukas Smagurauskas from Lithuania was fourth and Adam Suker fifth.

Overall and Pro Card in this category to surprise of himself went to heavy weight winner (23 year old junior) Pawel Kowalski.
Pawel who competed under NPC for the third time in Poland (won all there 3 in the row btw, Nationals in April and regional day before) couldn`t hide tears of joy on stage and after during interviews.
Pawel came to the show without huge expectations and was planning long season ahead.

CLASSIC:

In Classic Class C we had Jimmy Tonkinson and Toby Richards (5th). Jimmy won this class but in Overall he came across Andreas Fotiadis who was unstoppable that day.

Men`s Physique:

Here we had two names Heider Mehdi was center stage for most of the comparisons in class D but was moved aside at the very end and eventually placed second. Also we had Harley Judge in class C who came fourth.

Overall win and Ifbb Pro card went to Sergii Tkachenko from Ukraine.

FIGURE:

Overall winner Paula Ranta from Finland, Polish figure Karolina Lukasiewicz who was representing UK at this show came fifth.

WELLNESS:

Trophy in the newest category went to Diana Verduzco from Mexico. Scarlett Harvey placed in Top 5.

BIKINI:

Christine Fox won class A out of the eight girls but it was class B champion Wiktoria Gasior who took the overall win and could compete along other Pro athletes at evening main event..

Classic Physique Pro show – Battle of Champions 2021

Out of initially eleven athlete’s final list consisted of eight bodybuilders who took on stage to fight for the last available ticket to Olympia 2021 in Classic Physique category.
The likes of Urs Kalecinski already won Tampa Pro and secured his spot to big O (but he was present at the festival), Michael Daboul skipped Europa Pro in Spain and this show in favor of prepping for Arnold Classic UK in October.
Before the competition, the Dutchman Wesley Vissers was considered a favorite to win, not only having the necessary experience, but he can also boast that he can bring a perfect illusion of power and perfect posing to the podium.

British bodybuilding fans could watch Jack Connor`s (Olympia Amateur UK 2019 winner) debut on Pro stage. 
The first call out consisted of four names and as expected included 28-year-old Wesley, who was joined in a by Pavel Szotkowski from Czech Rapublic, Roman Khaliulin from Russia and Brit Jack Connor. 

Call outs:

2. Kulczynski, Romanov, Šteflovič, Taylor

The results: Wesley Vissers has achieved his third victory in the IFBB pro league and will be going to Olympia again. 
Roman Khaliulin took second, Jack Connor third, Pavel Szotkowski fourth place.
The only local pro in the this category Hubert Kulczynski finished fifth.

Bikini Pro Show – Battle of Champions 2021

A dozen female competitors entered the women’s bikini, the last minut addition was winner of the NPC Pro Qualifier and new pro Wiktoria Gasior.
Wiktoria was immediately requested by the judges for the first call, she was joined by Anastasia Gonzalez, Adrianna Kaczmarek, Noora Mahonen, Ottavia Mazza and Priscila Rodrigues.
Then judges moved Noora and Adrianna to the center stage, which meant that they were the two fighting for victory.
To the delight of the home audience, a Polish professional came out victorious.
For Adrianna Kaczmarek this is the second win in the Pro ranks in most recent shows two weeks ago in Spain she placed third.

Next NPC & IFBB PRO Festival will take place 18-19th of September we will have Romana Skotzen in Figure Pro division.

The organizers of Mr Big Evolution Portugal as before prepared nice show for spectators thanks to two lifting turntables.

Purposely starting this with Figure were we had there ladies representing UK Rhea Gale , Barbara Kiss and debutant Scarlett Hollands. Rhea and Barbara came to europe after competing at the Orlando Pro early this month where miss Gayle place 2nd and was now favorite to win this show.

Worth mentioned on Saturday few of the ladies was fighting to join Pro ranks at the amateur olympia with Rebecca Farrell placed 2nd and Ernesta (?)3rd in figure B.

Back to the Pro shows the judges asked for eight girls in the first to call out Bahar Ayra, Oyku Basar, Viola Burk, Rhea Gayle, Olesya Kochura, Carmen Penalver, Jennifer Zienert and Lena Ramsteiner who btw recently still was Ifbb Elite Pro but just Pro League by winning Amateur Olympia on friday. In the end, Lena took second behind Rhea Gayle who did not disappoint and won ticket to her third Olympia. Jennifer Zienert took third in her Pro Debut (she wont her Pro Card at the 2 Bros Ben Weider UK this year), Oyku and Bahar also made it to the top five. This time Gabriela Linhartová will take the divided sixteenth place in the races.

Women’s Bodybuilding

Anastasia Leonova new face in female bodybuilding pro ranks managed to turn her professional debut into a victory and it will be interesting to see how she will perform at Ms. Olympia. Veteran and probably favorite before the show Margita Zamolova got second place in Portugal, just like a few weeks ago in the Bahamas, which means she is not leading strongly in qualification ranking. Vera Mikulcova was third.

Eleven female professionals entered in women’s physique, one of them was representing UK, Lindsay Angel who only just won her Pro Card on Friday and stood her ground well as she place 8th. The category was dominated by the Brazilians athletes as Daniela Castilho took first spot, Elisama Zorzetto second and the debutant Alcione Santos got 5th.

Only three professionals presented themselves in Portugal in this very demanding but attractive category of fitness.
Here we had very well know face Kate Errington and her client who lives in UK and also won her card at the one of the 2 Bros shows Corinne Bean. First was the physique round dominated by Minna Pajulahti most muscular out of three which was clearly proffered by the judges. Second round was the 2 minute routine. At the end it was Minna at the first place before Kate and Corinne

This year for the first time in history wellness category will be part of Olympia Weekend in order to have sufficient athletes, top 2 qualify directly for Wellness Olympia 2021 in each competition as an exceptional rule this year.
We had sixteen names in Estoril and the victory in her second start in the professional competition has been won by Juliana Esteso from France, Brazilian Isamara Santos took second and Anna Mroczkowska from Poland got third in her Pro Debut. 
Charline Mas got 4th and Lisa Meiswinkel friday`s Amateur Olympia Pro Card winner -5th.

Twenty-four professionals took part in the bikini, the judges had difficult job with such numbers and divided them into relatively large groups of eight. Here new Austrian professional Kristina Brunauer become sensation as only just won professional card at the friday`s Amateur Olympia stood got the first call out among favorites, meanwhile other took turns in comparisons by her side, the judges did not move Kristina anywhere and in the end, she did the impossible, in a single weekend, became future Olympian from amateur. In this category we had Amy Leigh-Quine representing UK in her Pro debut and Jessica Kavanagh from Ireland unfortunately both didn’t get notice by the judges in such huge line up.

On Sunday 14th March 7PM both 2 Bros Pro Event (representing NPC Worldwide and Ifbb Pro league in UK) along with Arnold Classic UK organisers announced on social their partnership.

Since announcement of Arnold Classic UK in February 2020 fans have been anxiously asking the question – “which bodybuilding federation will be organising show?” at what can only be described as one of the most prestigious event in the UK this year.

Early this year 2 Bros Pro Events confirmed that October event (originally Amateur Olympia) is going to be their biggest event yet with Pro Qualifiers and Pro League show for all categories.
Not only that they have confirm expansion to Scandinavian countries this along with France Pro Qualifier that has been cancelled dut to the ongoing crisis.

This year will go down in the history of bodybuilding as one of the strangest and craziest ever.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a number of competitions had to be cancelled, moved or take place in secret (Monsterzym in South Korea),
British Grand Prix, originally planned for Saturday, November 7, has its own story.
One week before the BGP and Mecca Classic regional qualifier, Boris Johnson announced nationwide lockdown in England from Thursday the 5th. As probably everyone though the contest simply wont take place Ian Constable announced that 2Bros Pro Events team will try to move the show for a day just before the lockdown. There is no doubt that the 2 Bros had to make a literally heroic attempt, but in the end everything worked out. Thanks to them athletes who steeped on stage of Watford`s, Pumped House theatre competing in open bodybuilding, men’s 212 division, classic physique, women’s physique and bikini fitness were able to “fight” for their qualification to the Olympia 2021.
First qualification to Olympia 2020 for each category winner, and points for the remaining within top five placing.

It is understandable that moving the competition three days forward and upcoming lockdown will have its consequences and reflect on participants arriving. Essa Obaid gave up the start of the British Grand Prix for this reason , he was afraid that he would get stuck in England after the planned monthly lockdown. The sad thing about this 41-year-old veteran is that his four-month preparation may go to waste training this year. His participation in the forthcoming Wings of Strength Romania Muscle Fest Pro is also big question mark as it seems he will not be allowed to enter the country due to the foreign policy of the United Arab Emirates and Romania. The Danish professional rookie Patrick Johnson also did not come to Watford, he should compete in Romania as planed. At the other hand that didn’t stop Canadian Regan Grimes to arrive from spain along with Angel Calderon where he lived since Europa Pro.

Results of British Grand Prix 2020

Bodybuilding open:

The favourite to win was obviously the champion of the recent European Pro James Hollingshead, who wanted to fight for the early qualification to Mr. Olympia 2021. This would give him plenty time to work on further improvements for Mr Olympia 2021 without having to worry about qualification during the season. In the end, it turned out to James came first in front of the home crowd. Wednesday competition of men’s open bodybuilders was made in memory late Luke Sandoe, and the fact that James could have won this competition will certainly be of special importance to him ( James done his routine purposely without music).

Second place went to Regan Grimes who will continue his fight for Olympia qualification next week in Bucharest at the Wings of Strength Romania Muscle Fest Pro.
Marc Hector got third in his only second start among the pros, this must have been satisfying result.

212 Bodybuilding:

Only a day before the competition on social media it was reported that recent Europa Pro 212 champion Angel Calderón Frias arrived in London and would also enter the competition. It was no surprise that massive Spaniard won his fourth Pro show and secured the qualification for the Olympia 212 Showdown 2021 in advance.

It is important to mention that this was a last Pro show for a 2008 British champion James Llewellin who came ahead of the man he personally help achieve Pro status this year at British Championship – Paul Latham.

Classic physique was was one of the classes that was very hard to predict, looking at the starting list German Mike Sommerfeld probably could have been be considered the favourite to win along majority of Pro Debuts. In the end, however it was the massive Hungarian Laszlo Kiraly who got the top spot. He got his professional card along with Florian Poirson at last year’s amateur Olympia in Portugal. Third place was taken by Michael Daboul, fourth Shane Cullen from Ireland and fifth Jonathan Lofthouse all of these guys stepped on Pro stage for the first time. Following great result and now having 4Pts Michael Dabaul is going to compete also in next show in Bucharest hoping for win or further points to Olympia qualification.

Women`s Physique:

3. Priscila Reyes

Out five ladies expected to compete in WPD Katia Ubelacker and Joanna Romano were not able to arrive.It was Lenka Ferenčuková who achieved her second victory among professionals. The second place was taken by best conditioned Corinne Ingman,according to judges she didn’t fit the criteria as would be more suited for Bodybuilding. Third Place was taken by Priscila Reis, for whom the competition was a professional debut.

Bikini:

1. Stine Hansen
2. Phoebe Hagan
3. Alessia Facchin
4. Jade Kelsie Wolfenden
5. Ester Oczella

As expected the starting list of the women’s bikini was the biggest category in the competition and had twelve names of which eighth were from UK (Laura Ziv although from Spain is a current British Champion). The judges were most impressed by the Danish Stine Hansen, who took home not only her first victory among professionals, but also her first qualification for the Olympia. Local favourite Phoebe Hagan had to settle for second, Alessia Facchin, Jade Kelsie Wolfenden and Ester Oczella shared the other top 5 places behind her.
