Tom had health issues for a very long time, he was battling cancer.
In 2002, Tom stepped on the stage for the last time, because of kidney issues caused by a genetic blood condition.

Tom Prince was born on October 26, 1969 in Virginia. From 1995, he became sensation moment he joined the NPC Nationals at his only third competition, in the heavyweight category he was second to Don Long but overcame for example Edgar Fletcher and Toney Freeman.
Prince was overwhelmed by his achievement. “I went back to my hotel room, lying in bed with my wife, and we cried for about an hour. That’s when I saw it all. My dream came true. “ Prince recalled a moment after his so successful debut in NPC.

Year later he finished second in the same competition, he was unlucky to run into the later four-time Olympia champion Jay Cutler Olympia. In 1997, however no one was able to beat him at the NPC Nationals. He came victorious ahead of some serious names including Orville Burke, Garrett Downing, Dennis James, Dave Palumbo, Mat DuVall, King Kamali, no one was able to beat him in overall either so the professional card he wanted was his!
He made his IFBB professional division debut at Night of Champions 1999, in which he reached thirteenth place. At the time, he battled against forty-two other athletes. He fulfilled the expectations that many placed in him after a quick start to his career at Night of Champions 2001, where he finished third behind Orville Burke and Dexter Jackson and as a result, according to the rules at the time, he secured a qualification for Mr. Olympia. Where he later finished 16th out of 21, Ronnie Coleman won that year and all participants were classified.

But before he could really develop his potential, serious health problems ended his career. After the 2002 season, he almost died in preparation for the Night of Champions 2003. On April 10, his wife dragged him to a doctor, the examination showed that his blood was very thick and his kidneys and heart were failing. Later, when he got out of the hospital, his condition improved so much that he had an about idea of competing again in 2004. He entered Ironman Pro Invitational but minutes before entering the stage he had to give up when his opponents were performing their first poses he was sitting at the backstage chair, due to a malfunctioning kidney, his lungs filled with water.
For him, this meant a definitive end to bodybuilding, Tom underwent on dialysis three times a week for the next eight years.

Although Tom never won as a pro, he was often featured in the magazines. He was also considered a friend to many in the sport, including Cicherillo, who named the Godfather of his daughter prior to his death.

Jones Kimberly Anne History Card https://bbing.uk/history-card-kimberly-anne-jones/ https://bbing.uk/history-card-kimberly-anne-jones/#respond Fri, 05 Jun 2020 14:51:49 +0000 https://bbing.uk/?p=5822 This was the first from the series I have started some time ago on Instagram about British Bodybuilding legends.

Kimberly Anne Jones was a 1992 British Champion who year later competed in famous 93 Ms Olympia.

After retiring from the stage she was an owner of “Old School” Skyline Gym in London.

Below Kim about herself (piece taken from her site.)

My 30+ years in the fitness industry have been colourful and triumphant. My history is vast and substantial. My resume is endless.

I started with a very successful career in bodybuilding winning an extensive array of coveted titles that culminated in obtaining my professional status and competing in such events as the biggest acclaimed bodybuilding contest in the world, the Miss Olympia.

During this period I was invited by Royal consent, to train for her HRH Princess Dianna at the official opening of the Barbican in London. I am the only bodybuilder to have ever been requested to do so.

I was also an invited guest to a birthday party of body building legend Arnold Schwarzenegger

On my retirement from the Professional arena, I transferred my skills as an athlete into the world of the media and consequently spearheaded major award winning marketing campaigns for VW motors, LWT Television and Virgin Mobile phones. Each campaign flourished and won The Advertising Campaign of the year award.

Amongst all the media hype each campaign ensued, I was featured as the main article on the front page of the Financial Times and every national newspaper / magazine reported weekly on my success.

Virgin Mobile constructed a dedicated website to me named Miss Super Buff.com

Virgin Music composed a tune for the site, which could be downloaded as a ring tone.

I had cartoons drawn of me by such famous cartoonists as Jak and Kipper Williams

I have been photographed by Royal photographer John Swannell

I have made guest appearances on every poplar television show in England and Europe.

Further opportunities then came my way and I won the position as anchor woman and leading role as the coach in the popular Sky Discovery channels series ‘Body Spectacular.’

Then followed my principal role in a BBC Channel 4 documentary – A unicorn in a man’s world and a BBC 1 documentary – Baby face body builders.

At present a famous London sculptor is designing a statue and art exhibition of me. I have also recently been the subject of a successful photographic art exhibition at a gallery in the Strand

I also coach many of Britain’s former, current and future fitness stars. My success in this field is second to none and the quality of support and guidance I provide is well recognised throughout the UK.

In July 2011 I was nominated and honoured by the eminent bodybuilding organisation The Pioneers Of Physical Culture for my Outstanding Lifetime Achievements in Bodybuilding.

The great Johnny Fuller (RIP). Johnny was my first ‘mentor’ when I started out and taught me so, so much…competing in four Mr Olympia contests, in 16 Pro shows between ’81 and ’83 he never placed out of the top 5! When he took me under his wing it was after he’d torn his pec and sadly he hadn’t got it surgically repaired and it affected his placings thereafter. He was a volume trainer!!! To put it mildly, we did so many set’s, I wouldn’t even be able to put a number on it; it was brutal…I vividly remember the day we got thrown out of one gym because we would spend so long on each piece of kit!! At the time, I couldn’t believe they’d throw Johnny Fuller out lol! But, looking back, I could see their point!! From my start with Johnny’s mega volume to my treasured period with Dorian and his one set approach!!! What a change…is there a connection? Actually yes! Johnny met Dorian in ’85 and he said to me later, ‘That young kid knows his stuff..more than he should, I think he’s one of those guy’s who says they’re a novice but has been out in Venice Beach for years’!!! He seriously thought Doz was ‘pretending’ to be a novice…now that’s praise when it comes from someone like Johnny, who was an expert in nutrition. He was hardcore with nutrition too! We’d go round to his flat after training and he’d blend up a shake for us…blended raw liver!!! Now that’s hardcore…and some guys complain about the flavour of a protein shake!!! Miss you Johnny (we worked together on the doors for years too, a gentle giant). #bodybuilding #muscle #oldschool #mentor #beastmode #memories #beef #liver #shake #hardcore #bodybuilder #pro #learn #RIP #nutrition #volume #training #gym #kickedout #mrolympia #champion #Caribbean #beast #shredded #shredz #doorman #friend #goodtimes #goldenera #johnnyfuller

This time of year always reminds me of the great, late Johnny Fuller. When I was just starting to really get serious about bodybuilding, it was Johnny who was my first mentor. A wonderful man, incredible bodybuilder who competed at the highest Pro level, the Mr Olympia, he was so generous in his help, advice and teaching me the ‘real deal’ about training and diet (this was a man who got shredded and bone dry, absolutely freaky, sick shredded!). I say this time of year as it always reminds me of working with Johnny on the door back in the late 80’s, early 90’s especially over the Christmas period…he’d stand there at the door, leaning against the wall with his polo shirt stretched to the max around his massive chest, back and arms. He wasn’t one of these guys who feel the need to pull the sleeves up to show his guns…there was simply no ignoring their size as he stood chilled out chatting to me about bodybuilding and his career. He told me how he tore his pec, the industry and how people had treated him and just passed great night after great night learning from this legend. We shared many a night just talking away…luckily it was a nice club and we very rarely had to do anything but talk to the customers!! Great memories of a great man…he had the biggest calves I would ever see, until I saw Dorian’s!!! And did I mention he got crazy ripped too, ahead of his time…he took dieting very seriously, he wasn’t afraid to hurt. Old school…RIP Johnny. #bodybuilding #bodybuilder #beast #oldschool #classicbodybuilding #shredded #ripped #diet #nutrition #striations #mentor #friend #door #Olympian #memories #reps #sets
